Our new puppies Avro and Annie age about 11 weeks old 2002. Annie and Avro are 1/2 Weimaraner and 1/2 lab. Their original owner owned a pure bred Weimaraner and their neighbour owned a large pure bred lab. The rest, as they say, is history.
Annie is the mother of our litters in the years 2004 and 2005. She is over 80 pounds and her long body and long legs propel her a great speed. Annie pulls our sleigh and me on skis at speeds that are exciting and awe inspiring but one has to watch out for the turns. Annie is gentle and intelligent. Her greetings are warm and wonderful. She has developed a routine of lifting her paw as if to shake hands but we never taught her that as a trick. She is just trying to touch us as part of her greeting and its all natural. Its pure enthusiasm. Annie is a communicator. Her greeting are vocal , a series of guttural half growls and half song that she sings. Her puppies are displaying her ways too.
Although I cannot get her to retrieve balls and sticks, she retrieves my grouse every time and she has a gentle mouth. Unlike Avro, Annie hunts with me and understands the purpose of a walk with a gun. She joins Avro in chasing or treeing the bears. She is a wonderful mother to her puppies. Annie and Avro are both very needful and appreciative of human companionship.
