Puppy Visits and Parvo Virus Parvovirus is one of many infections that kills puppies. It has been reported to us recently, by vets and in puppy blogs, that Parvo is on the rise. Parvo can be carried by shoes, car tires or any agent that can trap or lift microscopic amounts of infected dog excrement. Parvo virus can remain potent in soil for over five months. Although bleach will kill the Parvo virus, you cannot usually find all the virus to kill it. Once one puppy gets Parvo, the rest are sure to be infected too and potentially, all puppies will die. Sometimes even puppies cannot be successfully vaccinated for Parvo virus. Any vaccinated dog can still be infected by Parvo too, as vaccinations are not always successful. Simply, Parvo and the thought of the consequences from Parvo, are very scary for us. Responsible breeders will not let you handle their puppies or even visit their puppy kennels for fear of Parvo. For this same reason, we follow the same rules. You will not be able to handle your puppy until you come to take him or her home. To protect the puppies, we will meet at a facility a short distance from our Kennels.
