Hey Brien:

We got Doggy Indiana Jones (aka Indy) from you on the labour day weekend – He was from Taz’s litter.  I have waited to send you an email to let you know how happy we are with the pup for I just wanted to send photos of how baby looks when he is a little bit older (now he is seven months!).  He honestly is one of the best dogs one could ever imagine.  His temperment is amazing.  He is so smart and pleasant, and the list could just go on….. Many people comment on Indy’s good looks.  He definitely looks Weimie (although the Lab is definitely there in his girth and if you look at his face on a profile), but his caramel and toffee colour mixed with the blue eyes confuses everybody (even the vet).  He is so fantastic with our four year old son Grant….of course at first the jumping was a bit of an issue but that quickly came to a halt.  He is so gentle with the other kids at the school yard since he brings and pickup Grant every day, all of the kids are happy to see him!

I have given your name/business to numerous people whom have inquired where I have gotten such a fantastic pet….they were absolutely amazed when I told them that Indy was house trained within a day….and that is a direct compliment to you as the breeder who knows how to keep your animals! Use whatever you need out of this email to put on your testimonial page….if you ever need anything else feel free to let me know.  I would be happy to write something else if needed.   I have put in a friend request on facebook for your business but you still haven’t responded…please do so that my friends can quickly see where Indy came from – I have a few friends quite interested.  I noticed on your website that you have Timmy, Indy’s brother, still in your care.  Indy has a bit of darkness around his eyebrows but nothing like that!  If I could…I would take him too!

Thanks again so much and I hope that all is well with you and the rest…

Anne-Marie, Brian and Grant

* One of the pictures that I have sent shows his distinctive markings down the middle of his back.  The hair is longer like a Lab, and is darker (toffee coloured)….and there is a cool wave to it that literally goes into a sharp zigzag down his tail!  One in a million?

GBSD Winter Hiking Killarney

Hiking The LaCloche Range With our GBSD
Jeff and Nicole have a second GBSD named Victor. Nicole, who lives in a nearby community, asked if she could bring her new GBSD Victor back to Black Bear Farm so he could play with his friend ‘Oscar’ my grey year old Weimaraner.  I agreed and asked Nicole if she would like to hike into the the La Cloche mountains of Killarney with Oscar and me.  She and Jeff agreed and Nicole’s children were both in school for the day. We started our hike at 10:00  am on a mild winter’s day with Oscar, my Weim and Victor, Nicole’s and Jeff’s ten month old GBSD. We must have covered about eight miles and assended three or four hundred feet up the face of the mountain range.  The dogs must have travelled ten times that distance as they played around us all day, off leash, without running away or getting lost. On our hike we saw four whitetail deer and three otters.  The steep climb was strenuous for us and we enjoyed our well deserved lunch on the almost snow bare summit of the range. Such a climb was possible this winter as there is only about four to six inches of snow in the forest whereas last year there was two and three feet of snow.

Both dogs and thier masters were very tired by the time we got home and a wonderful time was had by all.

GBSD ‘Victor’. His story.

Subject: RE: Thank You!
Dear Brien,
Well Brien I don’t know where to begin.  After Sandy passing away so suddenly our whole family was devastated.  Sandy was absolutely a perfect match for us.  Then you did it again, offered us another companion and family member “Victor”.  A perfect match again, it’s like you have these unbelievable instincts to connect people with these beautiful GBSD.  Words cannot express what we feel right now having Victor a part of our family.

He is absolutely a wonderful dog and has already brought so much joy and happiness to all of our lives.  The kids are truly in love with him and I know he feels the same way.  He has adjusted so quickly that it’s really hard to believe, it feels like we have had him for a very long time and it has only been two days.  I will say it again you have the best job in the world.  You definitely have something to be proud of Brien, the happiness and joy you bring to families lives with your special breeding capabilities.  But it’s not only the breeding that makes them special it’s also the way you are able to match these dogs with the right families as well.  Thank you again over and over, we will definitely be in touch and keep you posted with sharing our special times with Victor.

Thank you Brien and keep up the good work!

A Note From Black Bear Farm.  Victor is a black Georgian Bay Sporting Dog from Chloe (a daughter of Annie)  and father Reddy Fox (a ‘Fox Red’ field trial Labrador Retriever). Victor is directly related to Sandy. Its  not a coincidence that Victor has turned out to be so similar to Sandy.   Victor: http://www.blackbearfarm.com/dogs/09/091214-pups/IMG_1159.html   and http://www.blackbearfarm.com/dogs/09/091025-may-pups/index.html
