Hi Brien,

I am very lazy about taking pictures – rely on my friends to send me their copies – otherwise I would have sent more!  But I have also discovered Freya is not easy to photograph – she is always on the move!  I enclose a couple of puppy pictures anyway – see what you get at 10 weeks, and then at 50 weeks!  She went from 7.7 pounds to 77!

We have a fabulous set-up…I live right next to Mount Royal so I generally take her for a long run in the morning.  She is happily crate-trained (this was a necessity because as a puppy she chewed everything in sight – including vinyl chair covers, shoes, an antique pair of aboriginal deerskin beaded gloves :( …) and lies down with her toys when I leave for work as soon as I say, “Maison, Freya.”  …A neighbour who has a pitbull mix takes the two of them out for a second jaunt on the mountain in the afternoon – on the back trails they can run free.   So she is getting lots of exercise aside from our long weekend runs, and she’s a very happy dog.  My goal for next winter is to get her out skijoring…she is a natural leader (you will notice she is at the front of the running pack with that gang in the photo — and that’s NOT because I am as fast as lightning, but she is!)

HI Brien,

Have been meaning since forever to send you updates about Freya, our “Georgian Bay Sporting Dog” who turned one on May 10th.  She is doing so well!  I am training for an Ironman and she is my running partner.  She weighs in at 77 lbs, sleek and trim and healthy.   I enclosed a few pics taken on April 26th in Mont Tremblant provincial park.

”Freya”, BTW, is the Norse goddess of love and war!

Best,

LP

Picking up Stella in Killarney

Hi Brien,

I just wanted to give you an update on Stella. She’s doing really well with us. The first few days were difficult for her, as everything was new…   Within a few days, she was a completely different dog. Now she is peppy and playful and very loving. We don’t have a fence yet, but she doesn’t stray far from us. She comes when she’s called and we’ve managed to teach her to walk with the leash. She even pees on command. Yesterday we visited another dog and she had a blast rolling around with him. I’ve attached 2 photos of her, one when we picked her up at Killarney Outfitters and another in our back yard. I’ll send more photos when she gets a bit bigger.
Take care,
P.

Subject: UPdate on Scout

Hi Brien

It’s been some time since I’ve had the opportunity to send any updates on Scout and our family.  So I thought I’d let you know how we are. We have a new addition.  Our daughter Emily was born on Jan 7, 2010.  Scout has been great! No sign of jealousy. He has carried on as his usual happy self showing lots of interest in the baby.  Here are some pictures  (click the link to the left to see ‘Scout’s’ photo album. Scout, born in 2006,  lives near Collingwood, on Georgian Bay.)
