Note From BBF. Myrtle as a puppy is playing with Misha, a MacKenzie River Husky, in the lower photo. Myrtle suffered from a bout of HOD as a puppy and we delayed her shipping to Halifax until she recovered.

Christmas In Killarney
Killarney has just experienced its most beautiful Christmas in many years. The snow was deep and covered the trees. Christmas day was blessed with moderate temperatures and the sun was shining all day with no wind. Killarney offers access to thousands square miles of wilderness plus the protected areas of Killarney Provincial Park which is a protected wildlife preserve where one can camp, canoe, kayak or hike the LaCloche Mountains and the shores of the many jewel like lakes of the park. Plus one has access to the wilderness coast and protected Bahama like island archipelagos of Georgian Bay
Here are some photos of Killarney. The winter photos were taken on Christmas day. www.laclochegallery.com
Macy In Newfoundland
We received a letter from Matt and Amy who live in Newfoundland. Last year we shipped Matt and Amy a black, 2nd generation GBSD. You can see their letter describing Macy and her life in Newfoundland and you can see some interesting photos of Macy at http://blackbearfarm.com/dogs/owner-matt-macy.php
where there is a photo of Macy on historic ‘Signal Hill’.
Shipping to Newfoundland turned out to be a little more complicated than expected. Due to problems connecting flights from Sudbury Toronto Halifax and St. Johns that day. Air Canada elected to put up Macy in their pet boarding kennel for an overnight stay in Halifax. Macy was looked after by experienced dog lovers in a private kennel contracted by Air Canada. Macy was delivered to Matt and Amy in St. John’s Newfoundand the next morning. Macy is a ‘Charcoal’ GBSD. Her body shape very much Weimaraner but her colour is a deep charcoal grey and her coat is slightly longer than a Weim. Macy is a proven water dog and retriever as her photos will show. We have not asked Matt or Amy if they have played tracking games with Macy but we will. She is ideal equipped for this entertaining sport played between dog and masters. Her nose is long enough to make her a gifted tracker. Tracking games are explained here. http://www.blackbearfarm.com/dogs/playing-with-your-weimaraner.php

On Saturday, September 27, 2008 we delivered six puppies to Vaughan, north of Toronto. It was a dull rainy day but all received their puppies on time.
On the previous day, we delivered a puppy to the Air Canada Live Cargo office in Sudbury. The fog that morning was so thick the planes could not land and the drive to the airport was difficult. Our puppy ‘Mika’ missed her first flight at 10 am but made it onto the second flight out after the fog had lifted at 11:45 AM. I waited around from 8:am to assure myself that Mika was delivered to the plane. I watched Mika’s shipping crate being lifted into the cargo hold from the second floor restaurant observaton window. By early evening, after a further delay in Toronto, Mika was united with Krista and Eric in Vancouver. Mika is now living in her new home in Whistler BC! As usual, Air Canada performed as promiced and Mika, although tired, was in good spirits and happy. The cost of delivering Mika to Vancouver was $260.00 including the crate and ‘Lickit’ water bottle.

Hi Brien,
Just thought we would share a couple of summer pics of Carmen with you. She loves the water and is quite a good little swimmer now! She hates when the water splashes her face though so she swims with her head far back….so cute.
Hope you had a nice summer!

Hello Brien
Monsieur is a happy and healthy 7 month old pup, who currently weights in at 75lbs………….And what a character, he has us on our toes. Swimming is one of his many hobbies along with biking and hiking and of course the infamous shoe chewing but the “where’s Eric/Stef” game is always the most exciting. It must be the wiem instinct to search until he finds us. He is also a traveller like his owners with trips to Seattle and soon France. We will have to get him a passport……..
Hope all is well and congrats on the new litter
